  2. Hi Gil. Thanks for the update. Also, let us know how the repair goes with Wilcox. It’s always good to know what kind of service + results one gets from providers, which makes me realize that we do not have an entry yet in our gear repair directory listing. I’ll add Alan and then you can review. Did he give you an idea of price range and/or repair time? Jim

A big big thank you to all those who came out. I think we all agreed on the value of inter-club relationship building. It was particularly rewarding to see so many club presidents getting together to discuss ways of working together. As far as the food, a big thank you to Mike, Chris, and John, for your amazing cooking. Admittedly, my vegan burgers were also well-received 😎 Next one will be in Virginia!!
  4. Welcome Christian. Glad to have you aboard and looking forward to meeting you at the BBQ.

    FD QSL Cards

Sorry, my bad, by 'stamped' I meant 'postmarked' as in USPS stamps. But the rubber tamped ones were very cool. Again, dad had a stamp. I think I might still have it up North. Next time I go, I'll check. But yes, a good ole' postcard is a nice thing to receive. In fact, honestly, I don't remember the last time I received personal postal mail other than a birthday or Christmas card. I'm just as guilty though. Can't remember the last time I sent one. As far as uploading, I might as well go first. This is not a true QSL card, inasmuch as it's from "Ham Community" but I've sent these out along with my K3MRI card (old one, have to make a new one).

    FD QSL Cards

Hey Lind, can you upload a couple of the cards you've received most recently? I'd be curious to see what people are doing nowadays. Anyone else reading this thread, feel free to upload some recent QSLs...

    FD QSL Cards

I miss QSL cards. My dad had thousands. And like an idiot, I didn’t keep them. IDIOT. 😩 I think that when Maria retires and we hit the road in the RV, I am going to get back into QSL cards very seriously. Note also, that IMHO, nothing beats a stamped, printed, handwritten QSL card. Not casting any shadow on those who prefer or enjoy an electronic QSL bureau, but - call me traditional - a QSL card is a QSL card 😎
  8. Adding a link in case anyone is curious: http://www.qrp-labs.com/qcxmini.html Exciting indeed. Can’t wait to hear how it works. I’m tempted.
  9. Wow, that’s a tough call. I hope we have someone in the Community who has a sight-impaired operator or family member to weigh in. In my opinion, I would. That same operator may have sight-impaired electronic assisted-viewing devices. They will also have an able-sighted family member or friend. Yes, as I think about it more, absolutely send it to him.

Food is ready, willing and able. Games are also ready. Weather seems to be holding out in our favor. Awesome! Can't wait to see you all.
  11. Hey Jeff, welcome aboard. Glad to have you here.

Just a few days left to go. Time to go out and get the burgers and chips... 😁
  13. Hey Bob, welcome aboard. Great to have you here.
  14. As we get ready to launch Ham Volunteers, I ask myself the question, how often do we volunteer for public service events? I'm not talking about Field Day or club meetings, but more for marathons, parades, emergency exercises, etc. Time for a poll and I welcome any discussion on the broader concept of volunteering. Maybe you can tell us if you think you've done enough, what you like about volunteering, what you don't like... Also, in this thread, I welcome any experiences you might have had in volunteering for amateur radio, both good and bad!
  15. Hey Paul, welcome aboard!! Glad to have you here.
  16. Great to have you aboard. Welcome!!
  17. Welcome aboard Anne!!! Lovely to have you here.
  18. Hey Tom, we're glad you joined Ham Community!!
  19. Hey Rick, welcome aboard!!
  20. Welcome aboard Louis. Glad you're joining us!!
  21. Oh, that beauty! Nope, it was commandeered by my daughter a while back. She took one shot of my cat, looked at the result and promptly said: this is my new favorite lens. She actually took and delivered some official work shot for the City of Baltimore using it.
  22. I absolutely love the colors of your sensor. Just the right amount of detail and saturation. BTW, thinking of selling all my Nikon gear and switching to Leica. I think the sale will cover the purchase. Not the same number of items, obviously, but I want to downsize for the RV. I'll keep you posted.
