  3. Instead meeting in June, we suggest you spend a few hours working the ARRL Field Day event, which this year is June 26 & 27. We will hold our first Face to Face meeting on July 17th at PJ Skidoos, in Fairfax
  4. There is no scheduled Club meeting, via Zoom on Friday, June 25th. Instead, members are encouraged to prepare for Field Day, which starts at 2pm, Saturday, June 26th and runs continuously through Sunday, June 27th at 2pm. There is no organized FD event at Burke Lake Park this year, instead Club members are encouraged to work from their home QTH, or gather in small groups in the field.

  6. Thanks Jim, and I'll go plug it into my TV set and see what happens ... I have to split the port to allow it to run parallel to my logging program (LOG4OM) and I haven't seen a YT vid on that particular aspect, nor have I joined the groups/io to catch the thread. I'm assuming if I split my serial port, if I want to return to a single port that is easy to do..... Thanks for the reply. I hope more in the Ham Community will share their expriences/expertise.   7. Has anybody experimented w/ the wfview software package for remote controlling IC-7300 ( and other modern IC radios? I’m curious if you got the split port working to support Log4OM, WST-x and GridTracker? If so, can we share notes. How to set up the contest program, how to work stations, and how to submit logs. Time: 7:00-7:30 pm Main Program – “FT-8 Smackdown” Don and panel will host their “FT-8 Smackdown” and discuss the pros and cons of the FT-8 digital mode and why it may not be as popular as you think. They will point out the good and bad of the mode and why proponents may be misled. Time: 7:30-9:00 pm
  11. Field Day is June 26-27th and out of an abundance of caution the Club will not operate FD from Burke Lake Park this year. Members are encouraged to operate individually or form teams and to name Vienna Wireless Society as their Club when submitting scores. Don’t know much about FD? They will cover how members can work Field Day from home as a single operator or in groups as they may choose. The discussion will include FD rules, station classes, logging and how to send logs to ARRL with a VWS affiliation to obtain an aggregate club score. This presentation will be a good overview for new and returning hams who plan to operate in FD for the first time. It will also remind experienced FD operators of the temporary COVID-related rule changes ARRL has implemented. Time: 7:00-7:30 pm Main Program - Easy Helical Copper Tape and PVC 2M Vertical Antennas John, W6NBC from Santa Maria, CA will show us how to use inexpensive copper tape and PVC pipe to make effective antennas for 2m and other frequencies. John will discuss the antenna theory, demonstrate effectiveness and provide sources of materials for these useful projects we can all build. John has been licensed since 1965 and worked extensively in the technical side of broadcast television. Time: 7:30-9:00 pm
