Administrator K3MRI Posted June 22, 2019 Administrator Share Posted June 22, 2019 I am not promoting Garmin, but I do find that they are now offering matured off the grid GPS and satellite communications gear. Their purchase of In Reach a few years back seems to be working its way into all of their product lines. This is a link to their new Overlander product: https://www.garmin.com/en-US/overlander/ They have also, recently integrated In Reach into their GPSMAP series: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/623975 My question is, how many of you that operate portable, rely on handheld GPS units while you're in the field? Moderator WA2WMR Posted January 9, 2020 Moderator Share Posted January 9, 2020 When I operate portable, I confine myself to the back 40 (sq. yards). Can usually see the house from there. (If I can't, I take a step to either side and I can see where home is).
