Administrators K3MRI Posted May 31, 2019 ELMER Administrators Share Posted May 31, 2019 Hi all. Is it me or does everyone have a problem with hearing any repeaters, or simplex, while driving past the Tenleytown towers? The S-meters on my Icon 5100 go to S7/S9. They don't break the squelch, kudos to Icom for recognizing the interference and keeping it out, but as soon as a repeater comes back to me and does break the squelch, all I hear is the QRM from the towers. Nuts. For me it starts right around the McDonald's on Wisconsin and lasts until just past Friendship Heights. I would be curious to know who else has problems with RF towers in the D.C. area, where they are, and what bands do they affect.
Administrators K3MRI Posted December 16, 2019 ELMER Author Administrators Share Posted December 16, 2019 Here's an interesting solution, a 2M bandpass filter... Might get one for the car and try it out. https://www.sotabeams.co.uk/bandpass-filter-for-2m/?utm_source=SOTAbeams+Newsletter&utm_campaign=4e37ba3f5b-SB-December-2019&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_4298909b23-4e37ba3f5b-526116569&ct=t(SB-December-2019)&mc_cid=4e37ba3f5b&mc_eid=4b014f0700
