I am new ham, having taken both the Technician and General exams through the Anchorage VEC as a result of the COVID-19 stay home orders in effect. I passed by Technician on March 30, 2020, and my General on May 14, 2020. I am new to everything, but fairly active on the MARC repeater (144.955 MHz), which I monitor throughout the day in my shack--at least as long as I am stuck working from home.
My shack includes the ICOM ID-5100 mobile rig for VHF/UHF and the recently added ICOM IC-7300. The HF rig is so new that I don't yet have an antenna up, but I am going to be putting up an off-center-fed dipole (130') shortly. We'll see how that goes.
