Cross-Potomac 2022 BBQ

1 year and 7 months
   (0 reviews)

We need volunteers for the ARRL Sections of Virginia and Maryland DC, and Ham Community's First Annual Amateur Radio Cross-Potomac Summer BBQ.

Help out as we meet fellow amateur radio operators, both from the other side of the Potomac and from clubs right next door. This is not an operating event or a hamfest, it’s what it says, a plain old BBQ, with a little bit of background music, a couple of fun games, the usual tasty nourishment, very few and very short speeches, and that’s it. And it’s in the fresh air, so no major worries about covid, though we do encourage those that are at risk to observe recommended precautions.

We hope you can help us out.

Opportunity assignments

We would need a talk in operator, with their own setup, as talk-in operator from 10AM to 1PM on the day of the BBQ. Separately, unless this volunteer has a second operator that can come, we will designate a relief operator. Ideal setup includes a VHF rig, minimum 50W, more is ideal, we do have 110 V on site, with a stand alone antenna, ideally on a small mast, to get the signal out clearly in the region. FYI, the TI frequency will be 146.54 MHz simplex.

We would need one or two people from 10AM to 1PM to staff the welcome, or 'meet and greet' desk at the bottom of the entrance trail.

We would need a lead BBQ chef from 10 AM to about 4PM. Someone who has extensive experience handling two fast-moving BBQ grills with burgers, sausages, etc. We will be looking for two additional BBQ chefs to work with you.
