MCM 2023 ARO Parking Listing.xlsx 1.0.0

About This File

The is a file requested by the MCMO to aid their discussions with the LEO community regarding the presence of vehicle-mounted equipment at particular locations on the race course.  This is also a starting point for understanding parking for our volunteers.  THIS INFORMATION IS NOT YET FINAL and APPROVED, so please restrain your distribution to ONLY members of this group!

All,

This file is for parking information ONLY.

We are working on assignments but that is being delayed by the roughly 40 volunteers that have not yet signed up on BOTH the MCMO and HC web sites to provide the necessary information to permit the assignment process to continue to completion. Without those 40 volunteers, we do not have a viable assignment set.

We are working to resolve this discrepancy with these individuals as quickly as possible. We will get out a preliminary assignment list as soon as it is viable to do so.

Thanks,

Scott - KN4RPA

Hi all, Just discovered... A couple of the Lat/Lons are incorrect for their Radio spot in Version 1.
Ham Parking for MM7 coord are way over at MM50B
Ham Parking for MM8 coord are way over at WP50K
Just FYI in case it wasn't noticed yet.

Thanks for the catches!  I will fix and update the affected spots.  Turns out the errors were dropped digits in the Longitude - instead of .08, it SHOULD have been .058, which are now fixed.

Hey Scott, when you get a chance, can you explain the rationale or perhaps clarify what "Vehicle-mounted required" means?

From my perspective I'll be ready to go man-pack portable with 10 watts HT (IC-705, with improved SWR now) or I can be ready to deploy to a site schlepping a mast, J pole antenna, batteries, chairs in a wagon from my car to a point that might work better with antenna 20 ft up. I don't have a contingency yet for "Vehicle mounted required".

Maybe that refers to QRO needed? I have an XPA125B that I can use with IC-705 in a car and get up to 100 watts.

Anyway, thanks for what you're doing to get all these cats herded up

Hi, Dan!  Please, try not to overdo.  Most locations should operate at about 3-5 watts TXout with a dipole antenna (tiger tail).  (J-pole is an overweight dipole.). This allows Net Control to capture a repeater, should a transmitter be stuck on.  (Yes, it's happened.). Better to be light weight and efficient.  Hope this helps.  73, art.....

Dan,

Your assignment is for MM 15.5 and is a designated HT position - not sure why the confusion/discussion of high power / mobile required (which ARE needed ELSEWHERE on the course).  Please check the details for YOUR assignment that have been posted here in the Volunteers area as part of your profile.  A link to that area is in this thread up a few entries.

Looks like the suggested parking at MM10 no longer exists; the roundabout is gone with grass now there?  Can I park on the trail or other hard surface by there?

Best alternative will be any nearby pavement (not a bike trail) that has been closed for the race (i.e., has NO possible moving traffic AND is not part of the course).  Looks like there are a couple of access ramps that could work, if they're still there.  Will check with MCMO on Monday to see what they have heard back from the law enforcement types regarding the parking we previously identified to use..
