As in the past, The American Legion Post 180 (where our repeater is stored) has asked our assistance in providing race course communications. Again, we have that opportunity on Saturday morning , September 5, 2020. The total time commitment (from arrival to departure) is approximately 2 hours. We need 4-5 members with HT radios programmed to 146.685(-). This is a non-stressful exercise and, as the title notes, fun. It will provide a good practical (low key) exercise for potential Net Control operators. Our job is to maintain a communications presence throughout the race course and keep the race course director in the comms loop. The Vienna Police Department will provide traffic control. The course will start at the American Legion Post 180, (VWS) located on Center Street in Vienna. Upon entering Center Street, (VPD) the runners will turn left and travel about a half-mile to Mill Street. (This Mill Street is not the Mill Street with the light industrial buildings). At Center Street and Mill Street, (VWS, VPD) the runners will make a right turn onto Mill Street and, when intersecting the W&OD Trail (VWS), make an immediate left turn. Stay on the W&OD Trail until reaching the turn-around point. (VWS). After turning around, return to the American Legion Lodge by the same route. If the turn-around point is manned by a VWS member on a bicycle, he could perform the return sweep and end at the American Legion Lodge. All positions filled.
