The other day, Mike, AE4R suggested on the VSS-General Reflector that folks may wish to participate in the Straight KeyNight (SKN) 2020 event  [www.arrl.org/straight-key-night], and provided the following tips:  

• Starts at 0000 UTC (7PM New Years Eve), runs 24 hrs.
• Use your straight key or bug (or paddle … it’s allowed) to make contacts.
• Exchange: “SKN 599”

This is a low key (pun intended) non-contest event.

If you’re looking for another fun event over the holidays, try the Radio Amateur of Canada (RAC) Winter Contest. It runs 0000 UTC (7PM 27 December  to 2359 UTC December 28, 2019, and usually the rare Canadian Territories (Yukon, Northwest, and Nunavut) participate ….
