General Membership Meeting: Topic: Mobile Radio Car Show! VWS members with mobile amateur radios for the HF or VHF/UHF bands will open their cars for a “show and tell” in the large parking lot of Thoreau Middle School (by Door 12) on Friday, September 13th at 7:00 P.M.! See the tips & tricks for getting radios safely installed, wires pulled through the various channels in the car frame, and most importantly how folks solve the antenna installation challenge.
If you aren’t quite “mobile” but have a robust portable or “go kit” bring it to the “show and tell”, and set it up in front of your car. If you have an antique car or brand-new Mustang, those are welcome too…you can even stand next to the car with your “Baofeng”. If you have anything else for a “show and tell” or even “swap and shop”….open your trunk! Members can mingle, see different installations, operate mobile, and see mobile amateur radio in action. The event will run from 7:00 P.M. until dusk (about 8:00 PM) when we will adjourn to the School Cafeteria for a short business meeting, then snacks and a discussion of “go kits” or a continued Q&A review of mobile amateur radio operations. Don’t miss our first ever, Mobile Radio Car Show!
Note: there will not be live streaming of this meeting.
